John Messina, 61, of Rockford passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, in his home. He was born April 10, 1963, in Rockford, the son of Steve and Audrey Messina. He graduated from East High School. John worked at Tree Care after High School and later became a Tile Setter, where he eventually owned his own business Messina Tile. In later years he enjoyed working for the Rockford Park District.

He was an avid bowler in his younger years and participated in many leagues. He also was devoted to his faithful dog and companion Brandi.

Survivors include his Father, Steve. Siblings, Jim (Jean Rasmussen) Messina, Jeff (Lyn Warner) Messina, Christine Messina, and Charlie Messina. Nieces and nephews, Sarah Messina (Bink Buchanen), Nick Messina (Megan), Victor, and Alexandra. John is survived by numerous cousins.

Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 25th at 10:30 am in St Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, with Father Carl Beekman officiating. Burial in Arlington Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation from 9:30 am until time-of-service Thursday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established by the family. Arrangements completed by Tony Gasparini Funerals.
