Obituary For Larry William Hemmens

Larry William Hemmens was born on May 14, 1945, to Gerald and Hazel (Butterworth) Hemmens. He was born into eternity on June 11, 2024. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1963. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering until 1965 when he entered the Air Force until 1969. He spent two years serving in the U.S. and two years serving in Japan. In 1969, he started working for G.T.E/Verizon – retiring in 2009 after 40 years. He married Rosanne (Cuppini) on June 3, 1972. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Larry was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, bicyclist, fisherman, and member of the Pine Tree Pistol Club. He enjoyed his morning breakfast outings with special friends. Larry always had a solution for everything and could fix anything. He was a proud grandfather who enjoyed his grandchildren immensely.

Survivors include his wife Rosanne, son Jason (Jennifer) Hemmens, daughter Jennifer (Gary) Teuber, grandchildren Isabella Marion Hemmens and Charlie Leo Teuber, brother Mike (Karen) Hemmens, sister Cindy (Ted) Stenerson, several nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by parents Gerald and Hazel, twin brother Terry at infancy, and in-laws Leo and Marion Cuppini.

Though Larry may no longer be with us physically, the impact he made on our lives will forever remain. A special thank you to Northern IL Hospice and especially his nurse Nick.

A memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Saint Anthony Church, 1010 Ferguson Street with Father Carl Beekman officiating. The visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service on Tuesday in the church.
