Harry “Bomp” Buck Sr. 96 of Cherry Valley passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 30, 1925, in Rockford, the son of Delbert and Mamie Buck. He married Annette “Net” Anderson in Cherry Valley on November 2, 1946 and they spent almost 68 wonderful years of marriage together before her passing in 2014.

Harry graduated from East High School and then joined the US Navy, serving in World War II. He played baseball for the Cleveland Indians minor league team but left baseball to be with the love of his life, Annette. He started his working career at Woodward Governor. Then he owned and operated Rockford Sports Center. After that, he moved to Florida where he owned and operated a Mr. Steak. Later he moved back to Cherry Valley and worked at Fishers Appliance.

At the end of his working career, he was most notably known for his service as the Cherry Valley Township Assessor, where he retired after 23 years. Harry lived a wonderful life and lived every moment to the fullest. He enjoyed many things in life such as fishing, hunting, camping, trips to the casinos, and any time spent with family, especially gatherings that involved good food and cocktails. He was loved by his family and anyone who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his three children, Barb (Brad) Lofgren, Harry (Debbie) Buck Jr., and DeeDee (Jim) Rumple. Grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff) Mizner, Nolan (Jennifer) Lofgren, Michael (Becky) Buck, Lindsey (Ryan) Pell, Jason (Jenny) Rumple, and Danie (Giovanni) Giacomazzo. Great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Gus), Alyssa (Nolan), Mylee, Nolan Jr., Mya, Maddox, Chandler (Tylina), Haley, Alyssa, Abriana, and Julliana. Great-great grandson, Jayce. Special friend Lillie Markley. Predeceased by his parents, wife, and brothers Art and Donald.

Memorial Service at 11 am Friday, November 19, 2021, in Cherry Valley United Methodist Church with memorial visitation from 9:30 until 10:45 in the church. Memorial to be established at a later date. The family would like to thank OSF Hospice for the help and loving care they provided.
