Lorraine Paluzzi, 85, of Rockford, was born May 28, 1932 to Clarence and Nina Hoover; died Friday, March 9, 2018 at home. United in marriage with Joseph E. Paluzzi, September 22, 1996.

A “Kishwaukee Kid,” Lorraine attended Kishwaukee Elementary and Lincoln Junior High schools and graduated from East High School. She was a lifelong knitter, generously donating hundreds of mittens to the Rock House Kids, as well as to underprivileged children in Chicago.

Lorraine enjoyed gardening and took great pride in maintaining her yard. Her cheerful demeanor and laughter will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; sons, Jeff (Kathy) Sherman, Brad (Amy) Sherman, Dudley (Sherry) Sherman; grandchildren, Nick, Arielle, Caitlin, Cody, and Dylan Sherman; great-grandson, Cayden Clay; siblings Marion Neath, Charlotte (Jay) Hogan, Dick (Cindy) Hoover, Janice Smith, Doug (Ann) Hoover; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pre-deceased by her parents; brother, Stanley (Mary Lou) Hoover; and brothers-in-law, David Smith and Denzil Neath. A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held Monday, March 19, 3:30-7 p.m., at Midway Village in Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials (including the Rock House Kids) to be established by her family. Private interment of cremains will take place at a later date.
