Obituary For James Ralph Nilles

James Ralph Nilles, 80, of Machesney Park, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, in his home. He was born May 3, 1942, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Ralph and Elizabeth Nilles. He married Lea Metko on August 17, 1963, in St Mary Church in Wausau, Wisconsin. Jim worked for Barber Colman for over 45 years. Through the years, Jim was involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Marriage Encounter, Catholic Charismatic Group, Model HO gauge Train Club, gardening, bicycling, woodworking, playing chess, and baking cookies. After retirement, he would bake chocolate cookies for many different friends and his family. He loved baking for others. His family was his world! He loved being with his grandchildren, especially on Monday night family dinners. He enjoyed cookouts, playing games, cards, and anything just so they were together.

Some of Jim's favorite memories were vacations with Lea. His favorites were going to Hawaii, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England. He loved traveling in the United States with Lea.

Survivors include his wife, Lea. Son, Matthew Nilles. Grandchildren, Ashley (Shawn) Ruppert, Josh, Abigail, Madolyn, Zakkary, Sean, Tyler, Samantha, Richard, and Goddaughter Bridget McWilliams. Brother, Robert Nilles. Sister, Mary Jo (Jim) Budde. Two nephews, Bobby and Ryan. Predeceased by his parents, two sons, Jason and Mark, and nephew, Brian.

Celebration of life service at 12 PM Saturday, February 11, 2023, in Journey Church Ministries, 7825 Forest Hills Rd, Loves Park, with memorial visitation from 10:30 AM until 11:45 Saturday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established by the family. Arrangements by Tony Gasparini Funerals.
