Leonard John Vitale, 76, of Rockford passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, in Swedish American Hospital after a long illness. He was born October 27, 1948, in Rockford, the son of Leno and Inez Vitale.

He graduated from NIU, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He married Karen Westphal. Leonard worked for many years as an Electrical inspector for the City of Rockford. He was also anavid golfer. Member of Saint Anthony Church.

Survivors include his wife, Karen. Son, Kaare (Carrie) Jacobsen. Grandchildren, Xander, Austin (Amanda) Taylor and Jake Taylor. Brother, Robert Vitale, and sister, Marie Colletti. Nieces, Andrea, Maria, Rebecca, and Roberta. Sister-in-law, Kathleen (John) Carroll, Brother-in-law Ken (Debra) Westphal and many niece and nephew in-laws. His dogs, Duffer, Padraig, Gabby, and Louie. Predeceased by his parents.

Memorial Mass at 11:00 am Monday, November 25, 2024, in St. Anthony of Padua Church with Father Carl Beekman officiating.

Memorial Visitation is from 9:00 am until 10:45 on Monday in the church.
