Obituary For Peter Anthony Cicero

Peter Anthony Cicero, 56, passed away on June 26, 2023, in Nashville, TN, due to complications from an unexpected heart attack. He was surrounded by his family.

Peter was born on March 9, 1967, and raised in Rockford, IL. Growing up, he worked in the family-owned True Value hardware store and Dairy Hut ice cream shop before graduating from Boylan High School in 1985, continuing his education at Clarke University and, later, Drake University. He is survived by his parents Salvatore (Sam) and Serafina (Sally) Cicero, lifelong residents of Rockford.

On a professional level, Peter was a PhD Orthomolecular Organic Chemist. He enjoyed an impeccable professional reputation, and his life was enriched by the multitude of colleagues he had the pleasure of knowing. His passion for helping others went above and beyond, always putting everyone else first and always eager to please. Often known for signing his emails “Be Great,” this is truly a philosophy he lived his life by, and would want everyone to do just that in his memory.

When not immersed in science, he could be found playing golf, fishing, performing in musicals, playing the piano, singing, dancing, laughing, kicking back with a good beer or spirit, and rooting for his beloved Chicago Bears.

Above all, though, Peter was a devoted family man. His legacies are his two sons, Nathan and Parker, and daughter Koryna. His passion for life and eternal optimism poured over into his parenting style, and he encouraged them to pursue their dreams with strength, faith, and of course, a thorough knowledge of musical theatre and 80’s rock. The pride and love he had for them is beyond words. And lastly, the love of his life, soul mate, and forever best friend, Monica. Many years of unconditional love, appreciation for one another, and passion for life are what made their relationship beautiful. Their love was endless, and he will be missed for eternity.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Junior Golf Association. Monica, kids, Sam and Sally. Words cannot describe the shock and sadness I feel about the loss of Pete. He was a great friend during our High School years and up until he moved. I will cherish the time spent on the golf course, tennis court, fishing at the lake and just hanging out at the Hardware Store. You are all in my prayers! God bless you.....
